another point to bring up is knowing your creative direction and if you can stand by it. even when writing communities can check off all the green flags, if you don't have a good sense of who you are as a writer, it's easy to lose your creative direction/mission due to seeing others' creative processes. you really gotta be honest with yourself.
That's true. Sometimes it is easy for a burgeoning writer to get swept away in the ideas/methods of those in the writing community instead of focusing on their own. Learning new ways to write is always welcome, but sticking to your guns will not only help you finish a manuscript, but it will help build your authorial voice as a whole.
